Health & Welfare progress Food and Water - Minimum StandardsThere are 2 Minimum Standards from the Dairy Cattle Code of Welfare that outline general requirements for provision of food and water.Animals need to be given sufficient amounts of food with adequate nutritional quality to meet their nutritional requirements. When considering the required allowance of food and nutrients, a number of factors need to be taken into account including nutritional composition and quality of feed, body condition, health status, metabolic needs which differ within a herd and also depend on the time of year. Adjusting feeding levels according to needs by monitoring body condition score and/or weighing the herd in regular intervals is important for maintaining a good feeding regime. All stock must be provided with sufficient quantity and quality of water to meet their needs Would you like to print out the Code standards for Food and Water?
