What do I need to do?

Create an orientation checklist using this tool, or review your own orientation training.

Employee orientation should include:

  • A Workplace Introduction e.g. work areas, other key people, key jobs
  • Employment Conditions e.g. Entitlements, breaks, who to call when sick etc.
  • Health and Safety e.g. safety signs, safe work practices, PPE issued and how to use
  • Hazards e.g. where records are kept, who to report hazards to
  • Emergencies e.g. fire extinguishers, evacuation procedure
  • Incidents and injuries e.g. how to report an accident.

Make sure you have a checklist including the above so that you can review what orientation training that has taken place.
