Cattle being moved or sold must be identified with AHB approved ear tags and a completed Animal Status Declaration, along with receiving a clear TB test within 60 days of the move. Farmers must also ensure the location and ownership of every cattle herd is registered with the AHB, with herd details kept up-to-date. The purchase, sale or movement of a herd must also be registered with the AHB. Animal Status DeclarationAll cattle being moved (except bobby calves going direct to slaughter) must have a signed and completed TB declaration, which should be provided on an industry standard Animal Status Declaration (ASD) form.If buying or grazing cattle, it is important to check the TB declaration first. To confirm the accuracy of a TB declaration or to order free books of ASD forms, call 0800 4 TB INFO (0800 4 824 636) or order online at www.tbfree.org.nz. When moving cattle, you must keep a copy of the completed ASD form for every animal for one year (from the movement date). If receiving cattle, you must keep the completed ASD forms for the time you keep the animals, plus an additional year.
